Reiki (pronounced Ray-Kee) is a non-invasive form of energy healing originating in Japan that uses universal life for energy to clear energetic blockages and imbalances that cause discomfort and dis-ease. Reiki is the practice of gentle “laying of hands” by the practitioner, and can be administered to the client either on or off the body. It is important to realize that the practitioner is not creating the energy, she is simply allowing the energy to flow through her to the client, to reach the areas that are in need of clearing. Reiki is a long standing practice that has no religious affiliations; it is simply a method of healing that utilizes what is already provided to everyone through nature. Reiki can only do good, it cannot cause harm.
What to expect:
During a Reiki session, the client is fully clothed and is lying comfortably on a table. The practitioner will gently place her hands on various areas of the body (or in the auric field), holding those positions until the energetic blockages are clear. Some common responses to Reiki include, warmth, tingling, twitching, imagery, and some people don’t immediately feel anything. It is common for people feel the effects of Reiki after the session, even a day or two after the session. Any and all responses to Reiki are normal. Most people leave a Reiki session feeling a deep sense of relaxation.
