Born in the West and raised in the Midwest, Michelle has taken a circuitous path to arrive where she is today. She traveled from Ohio to Seattle by way of Belgium, California and Colorado. Along the way she fell in love, earned a BS in Biology, an MA in Journalism and became a licensed massage practitioner. Michelle joined the Tummy Temple staff in the fall of 2006. Under the tutelage of Marty Ryan, she has developed an appreciation of integrated abdominal massage. "I love the deep, yet gentle nature of focused belly work," she says. "It's one thing to read about the parasympathetic nervous system's connection to digestive health and quite another to actually observe it engage with positive results." Also through her time at the Tummy Temple, Michelle has become a strong proponent of double sessions with massage therapy and colonics one after the other, because of the powerful synergy of the two. Michelle enjoys helping clients work through digestive challenges as well as focused work on maintaining belly health. Her clients have commented on her intuitive touch and calming presence—a great fit for someone anxious about a first colonic. She also enjoys educating anyone who's curious about how the digestive system carries out such vital functions for us every day. Outside the Tummy Temple, Michelle has been known to hike around with her fiancé, dance to the beat of West African drumming, write, edit and teach tumbling to a super-great bunch of elementary school kids.
